Village of McBride Wastewater Lagoon Cell 1 Revitalization Project |
This project will increase capacity to treat wastewater by replacing the clay liner with bituminous geomembrane liners in one of the two lagoon cells, which is currently out of order. As a result, the facility will meet regulatory requirements, reduce sediment in the groundwater, and improve water quality discharged from the lagoon into the Fraser River. |

This project will separate combined sewers in the city as a part of ongoing efforts to separate a minimum of 1.5% of combined sewer system annually. |

The project will construct a wastewater treatment facility that meets regulatory standards that require sewage treatment to attain at least a secondary standard and will improve and protect the local marine environment. The facility and related infrastructure will service the District of Tofino, Tla-o-qui-aht First Nation. Parks Canada will also have the ability to connect to the District’s sanitary conveyance system. |
