Disposition of the IMM 1442 Generic Document – Page 2
Issue
Change of disposition for the multi-page “Generic Document – 4 part distribution (IMM 1442)” form.
Background
As part of the modernization vision, Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) investigated the need to continue microfilming the second page of the IMM 1442. Library and Archives Canada has confirmed that page 2 of the IMM 1442 has no archival historical value. As a result, CIC is no longer obligated to microfilm page 2 of the IMM 1442.
The Global Case Management System (GCMS) and the Field Operational Support System (FOSS) will serve as the official record. There is no need to preserve a physical copy as long as the GCMS and FOSS records remain accessible.
Instructions
Effective immediately, CIC and Canada Border Services Agency offices using the IMM 1442 are no longer required to send the second page to the Microfilm Unit of CIC’s Centre for Integrated Recorded Information in Ottawa, Ontario. Officers should dispose of the second page by using a Type III A or Type III B cross cut security shredder, in accordance with the RCMP G1-001 – Security Equipment Guide.
