Category-based selection allows us to invite candidates who have the right skills to fill job shortages.
We have new categories for:
researchers and senior managers with Canadian work experience;
medical doctors with Canadian work experience;
pilots, aircraft mechanics, inspectors and candidates in transport occupations with work experience.
We are continuing to invite:
health care and social services occupations, such as nurse practitioners, dentists, pharmacists, psychologists and chiropractors;
trades, such as carpenters, plumbers and machinists.
Medical Doctors Category
We created a new Express Entry category for medical doctors to work and stay here. We are also reserving levels spaces for provinces and territories (PTs) to nominate doctors, with faster processing.
We are working with PTs to improve immigration for health care workers and to make credential recognition fairer, faster, and more transparent, so internationally trained professionals can start working sooner in Canada.
Express Entry Reform
We are proposing changes to make it easier for high skilled people to understand how to apply to immigrate and to help us attract top talent.
We are consulting on the proposed changes now. A public survey is available on our website.
The Federal Skilled Worker Program, Canadian Experience Class, and Federal Skilled Trades Program are still open we continue to process those applications.
