COW – Wait times for Humanitarian and Compassionate – May 28, 2026
When we get more applications than available spaces in the Immigration Levels Plan, some applicants may need to wait until space becomes available in a future year. This can increase processing times.
Our goal is to process at least 80% of complete applications within service standards. While most applications are processed within service standards, strong global demand, particularly in categories where applications exceed planned targets can lead to longer wait times.
We had to make difficult choices in this year’s Levels Plan. We know that reductions to the Humanitarian and Compassionate categories will put pressure on meeting our existing humanitarian commitments.
