Citizenship ceremony to mark Black History Month 2024

Ottawa, February 27, 2024—To commemorate Black History Month, the Honourable Marc Miller, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, will welcome 19 of Canada’s newest citizens. The ceremony will be presided by Citizenship Judge Rochelle Ivri.
The following special guests will attend:
- Veda Weselake, Métis elder
- Jessie Simmons, anthem singer
- Sarah Onyango, board member, Black History Ottawa
- Matthieu Gilles, clerk of the ceremony
