The honourable Marco E. L. Mendicino: As the first night of Hanukkah approaches,

Jewish Canadians and all around the world are coming together for a time of rest, reflection, good food and family.

Hanukkah, or The Festival of Lights‚ commemorates the struggles of the Jewish people against adversity.

For all Canadians, Hannukah is an opportunity to reflect on the many ways that Canada's Jewish community has made this country a stronger and a more diverse place to live.

To everyone celebrating, Chag Sameach.

I hope this Hanukkah brings you wonderful new memories that will last forever.

Happy Hanukkah!
