Get support from our Dedicated Service Channel
The Dedicated Service Channel (DSC) is a team from IRCC that can help you
- find immigration solutions that fit your employment needs and business plans
- answer questions about the Rural and Francophone Community Immigration pilots and other IRCC programs
- guide candidates through the application process
Your community will refer you to the DSC after you’ve been designated.
The DSC doesn’t
- process applications
- expedite applications
- offer special exemptions from the labour market impact assessment process
How to help newcomer employees settle in your community
There are many ways you can support and retain your newcomer employees.
Give support in their community
In addition to helping newcomers integrate by connecting them with a Service Provider Organization (SPO), you can
- help them find housing and feel at home
- help them with transportation
- pick them up from the airport
- help them get to work, a local SPO and other essential services
- give them public transit information
- refer them to key services in the community (i.e. health card and school registration)
- connect them with local groups of interest
Give support in the workplace
In addition to taking Intercultural Competency Training yourself, you can
- encourage your staff to take the training
- help your new employee build social connections through mentoring and team building
- establish a workplace diversity and inclusion committee
