Technical Advisory Committee on Science and Knowledge
August 21, 2018 — The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency (the Agency) is seeking applications from individuals interested in becoming members of its Technical Advisory Committee on Science and Knowledge.
This Committee is being created to support the proposed better rules the Government of Canada is putting into place for major projects in Canada.
Members will provide the Agency with expert advice on topics related to impact assessments, as well as regional and strategic assessments. These topics include scientific, environmental, health, social, economic issues, and Indigenous knowledge.
The Committee’s work will focus on areas such as research priorities and technical guidance documents, and not individual proposed major projects.
The proposed new impact assessment system will benefit from this expert advice, helping to ensure the delivery of high-quality assessments.
Indigenous individuals interested in the Committee are encouraged to apply. The government is committed to working in partnership with Indigenous peoples in project reviews, recognizing Indigenous rights and knowledge and advancing Canada’s commitment to reconciliation.
For more information on the Committee and how to apply, please refer to the Call for Nominations.
Applications will be accepted until October 7, 2018.
The Agency is also creating an Indigenous Advisory Committee to provide expert advice on the development of policy and guidance related to the proposed new impact assessment process. Please see the Indigenous Advisory Committee’s Call for Nominations for more details.
