The Government of Canada funds a school feasibility study at Curve Lake First Nation

The Government of Canada believes every First Nation child deserves the best start in life and we are committed to working with First Nations to support quality education and learning environments for their youth.
Today, the Honourable Carolyn Bennett, Minister of Indigenous and Northern Affairs announced approximately $142,000 for a school feasibility study for the Curve Lake First Nation. This study will identify the best approach to support the highest quality learning environment for the community’s youth.
Through Budget 2016, the Government of Canada is investing $969.4 million over five years in First Nation education infrastructure, for the construction, repair and maintenance of First Nations school facilities.

On July 13, 2017, Curve Lake First Nation awarded the contract to conduct the school feasibility study to First Nations Engineering Services Ltd. The study is anticipated to be complete by July 2018.

INAC provided almost $1,000,000 to nine other Ontario First Nations for school feasibility studies, including Kasabonika Lake, Wunnumin, North Caribou Lake, Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug, Pic Mobert, Biigtigong Nishnaabeg First Nation, Beausoleil, Mississaugas of The Credit, and Chippewas of Georgina Island.

The Curve Lake First Nation School operates Kindergarten to Grade 3 classrooms.
