Public consultation on the Manual of Patent Office Practice

News release

From now to August 17, 2018, the Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO) will be conducting a consultation on proposed changes to chapter 17 of the Manual of Patent Office Practice (MOPOP). We are seeking feedback on the proposed changes relating to pharmaceutical solid forms.

The proposed update includes a new section to address a guidance gap in the MOPOP. These changes will lead to additional certainty and consistency in the patent examination process.

The MOPOP is a guide for patent examiners, applicants, agents and the public, looking for information about the operational procedures and examination practices of the Patent Office.

Visit our website to view the consultation documents.

If you have any questions about the consultation, please contact Jeremy McLean, Acting Program Manager, Examination Practice, Patent Branch.
