Tribunal Continues, with Amendment, Orders—Copper Pipe Fittings from the United States, Korea and China

News Release

Ottawa, Ontario, November 28, 2016

The Canadian International Trade Tribunal (the Tribunal) today continued, with amendment, its orders made on February 17, 2012, in Expiry Review No. RR-2011-001, concerning the dumping of copper pipe fittings originating in or exported from the United States of America, the Republic of Korea and the People’s Republic of China and the subsidizing of copper pipe fittings originating in or exported from the People’s Republic of China.

The Tribunal found that the dumping of copper pipe fittings originating in or exported from the United States, Korea and China and the subsidizing of copper pipe fittings originating in or exported from China were likely to result in injury. The Canada Border Services Agency will therefore continue to impose anti dumping and countervailing duties on these products.

The Tribunal is an independent quasi-judicial body that reports to Parliament through the Minister of Finance. It hears cases on dumped and subsidized imports, safeguard complaints, complaints about federal government procurement and appeals of customs and excise tax rulings. When requested by the federal government, the Tribunal also provides advice on other economic, trade and tariff matters.
