Tribunal Recommences Inquiry—Certain Fabricated Industrial Steel Components

Ottawa, Ontario, March 5, 2020—Following a remand by the Federal Court of Appeal, the Canadian International Trade Tribunal recommenced its Inquiry No. NQ-2016-004 regarding certain fabricated industrial steel components to make a redetermination of the denial of exclusion requests made by LNG Canada Development Inc., Suncor Energy Inc. and Fluor Canada Ltd. The Tribunal will endeavour to make its decision before June 26, 2020.
The Tribunal is an independent quasi-judicial body that reports to Parliament through the Minister of Finance. It hears cases on dumped and subsidized imports, safeguard complaints, complaints about federal government procurement and appeals of customs and excise tax rulings. When requested by the federal government, the Tribunal also provides advice on other economic, trade and tariff matters.
