TRIBUNAL CONTINUES, WITH AMENDMENT, ORDER— CARBON STEEL SCREWS FROM CHINA AND THE SEPARATE CUSTOMS TERRITORY OF TAIWAN, PENGHU, KINMEN AND MATSU

Ottawa, Ontario, September 2, 2020—The Canadian International Trade Tribunal today continued, with amendment, its order made on January 5, 2015, in Expiry Review No. RR-2014-001, continuing, with amendment, its order made on January 6, 2010, in Expiry Review No. RR-2009-001, continuing, with amendment, its finding made on January 7, 2005, in Inquiry No. NQ‑2004‑005, concerning the dumping of certain carbon steel screws originating in or exported from the People’s Republic of China and the Separate Customs Territory of Taiwan, Penghu, Kinmen and Matsu, and the subsidizing of such products originating in or exported from the People’s Republic of China, excluding carbon steel screws specifically designed for application in the automotive or aerospace industry and the products described in Appendix 1 to the expiry review order.

The Tribunal is an independent quasi-judicial body that reports to Parliament through the Minister of Finance. It hears cases on dumped and subsidized imports, safeguard complaints, complaints about federal government procurement and appeals of customs and excise tax rulings. When requested by the federal government, the Tribunal also provides advice on other economic, trade and tariff matters.
