What's New: 2014 Annual Report Tabled in Parliament

The Military Grievances External Review Committee’s 2014 Annual Report was tabled in Parliament on May 5, 2015 by the Minister of National Defence, the Honourable Jason Kenney.

The report includes the section titled In Focus in which the Committee presents issues related to the grievance process of particular interest for stakeholders. In the 2014 report, the Committee discusses two Federal Court of Canada decisions that contribute to the jurisprudence on de novo reviews and the adequacy of reasons. As well, the Committee provides an update on the recurring matter of the 30-day annual leave entitlement for members of the Regular Force with prior Reserve Force service, an issue that has been a cause of considerable concern for almost ten years.

The report also includes the summaries of all 171 findings and recommendations reports and a number of systemic recommendations issued by the Committee in 2014.
