The grievor disputed the decision by the Director Medical Policy (D Med Pol) to assign him a permanent medical category (PCat), with a Geographical factor (G)3 level, as well as Medical Employment Limitation (MEL) that “requires screening with a medical officer before selection for operational environment to confirm deployability.” he grievor argued that the PCat and the MEL were not merited and unfairly impacted his Readiness Verification Status Report for deployability.
The Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) Mental Health Board reviewed the grievor's medical file and found that the PCat and MEL assigned to the grievor were justified for the protection of the grievor and the CAF.
The Committee found that the assignment of the PCat and the MEL was reasonable and consistent with CAF policy. The Committee recommended that the Final Authority (FA) ot afford redress.
