Selection Board

Case summary

F&R Date: 2020-08-25

The grievor grieved the decision to remove him from the Regular Force (Reg F) Military Police Selection Process (MPSP). The grievor participated in a Background Integrity Interview (BII) and was found unsuitable due to integrity issues. The grievor also argued that the BII interviewer was biased.

The Commanding Officer, Military Police Group Headquarters, acting as the Initial Authority (IA), found that the processing of the grievor's applicant file had no irregularities and the BII, including the BII interviewer, followed MPSP protocols. The IA concluded that the grievor was not aggrieved and did not grant redress.

The Committee requested a summary of the integrity-related reasons why the grievor was removed from the MPSP. The reasons were reasonable and tied to the main function of a Reg F Military Police. The Committee found that there was no evidence to suggest that the BII assessment as part of the MPSP was not conducted in a fair and equitable manner.

The Committee also found that there was no evidence to support the allegation that the BII interviewer was biased.

The Committee recommended that the Final Authority not afford the grievor redress.
