# 2020-201 Pay and Benefits, Canadian Forces Integrated Relocation Program, House Hunting Trip

Canadian Forces Integrated Relocation Program (CFIRP), House Hunting Trip (HHT)

Case summary

F&R Date: 2020-12-22

The grievor contended that his House Hunting Trip (HHT) to Ottawa had been unsuccessful due to flooding in the area at the time and requested that a second HHT be paid for from core funding. The Committee found that due to the limited area of the flooding, it could not be considered an “exceptional circumstance” as defined in the Canadian Forces Integrated Relocation Program (CFIRP) Directive. The Committee therefore found that the second HHT should be paid for from personalized funding and recommended that the Final Authority (FA) not afford the grievor redress.

FA decision summary

The FA agreed with the Committee's finding that the Ottawa region flooding did not constitute an exceptional circumstance as envisaged by the CFIRP which would permit funding the grievor's second HHT through the core envelope rather than the personalized one. The FA agreed with the Committee's recommendation not to provide redress.
