Lack of pay-related information during the Voluntary Occupation Transfer process
Topic
Lack of pay-related information during the Voluntary Occupation Transfer (VOT) process
Case number
- 2017-018 (F&R date: 2017-07-05)
Issue
During the review of a grievance, the Committee noted that the VOT process does not include a discussion of potential pay implications with VOT applicants. In some cases, a VOT can have a significant impact on an applicant’s pay, especially when the VOT affects a member’s rank and/or occupational pay group. Given that the rate of pay on VOT could be significantly lower, members should be made aware of the financial impact of their decision to VOT during the application process.
Recommendation
The Committee recommended that the Personnel Selection Officer meeting with VOT applicants include a reference to, and discussion of, the financial implications of the VOT; and, that a clear reference to the relevant pay policies are added to the VOT application and related checklists.
FA Decision Summary
The grievance was withdrawn at the Final Authority (FA).
