I am pleased to present the 2022–23 Fees Report for the National Battlefields Commission (NBC).

During this period, the NBC worked to realize its mission of preserving the history and enhancing the grounds of Battlefields Park. In this report, the NBC presents each group of fees in a detailed fashion and provides all the information on the published fees. In 2022–23, the NBC continued to offer up-to-date information on fees on its website.

I invite you to read this report prepared by the NBC under the Service Fees Act. I am pleased that the organization is supporting open and transparent fee management, as reflected in this report.

The Honourable Pascale St-Onge, P.C., M.P.
Minister of Canadian Heritage

About this report

This report, which is tabled under section 20 of the Service Fees Act, the Low‑Materiality Fees Regulations, and subsection 4.2.8 of the Treasury Board Directive on Charging and Special Financial Authorities, contains information about the fees the NBC had the authority to set in fiscal year 2022–23.

The report covers fees that are subject to the Service Fees Act and exempted from the Service Fees Act.

For reporting purposes, fees are categorized by fee-setting mechanism. There are three mechanisms:

For fees set by act, regulation or fees notice, the report provides totals for fee groupings, as well as detailed information for each fee. For fees set by contract and fees set by market rate or auction, the report provides totals only.

Although the fees the NBC charges under the Access to Information Act were subject to the Service Fees Act, they are not included in this report. Information on the NBC’s access to information fees for 2022–23 is in our annual report to Parliament on the administration of the Access to Information Act, which is posted on our Web page: Reports and Policies – The National Battlefields Commission.

In 2022-23, the NBC was not subject to the requirements set out in section 7 of the Service Fees Act and did not grant any discount under its enabling statute.
