Free activities on the Plains to celebrate Canada Day

On Sunday July 1, join the Canada Day celebrations on the Plains! In addition to festivities at the Park, participate in six activities, free of charge, at the Plains of Abraham Museum, Martello 1 Tower and the Edwin-Bélanger Bandstand. Explore the history of the battles of 1759 and 1760, admire artefacts from the Park’s archeological collection, learn about the secrets hidden behind the walls of Martello 1 Tower and complete your busy day by attending Maxime Landry’s show at the Edwin-Bélanger Bandstand.

  • Battles | 1759-1760 is a unique, epic journey where visitors relive the battles of the Plains of Abraham and Sainte-Foy through dramatic accounts (immersive projection), educational experiences (stations), period reproductions and a collection of costumes and uniforms from the era. And do not miss the new interactive Order and Law section that traces unknown impacts underlying the conflict during the era of famous battles.

  • The Identities and Traces exhibitions of impressive collections of artefacts provide insight into changes in civilian and military lifestyles over more than two centuries. The artefacts bear witness to history and the physical traces left behind at the archeological dig sites at Des Braves Park, the advanced blockhouse of the temporary citadel, Martello 2 Tower and Cove Fields.

  • The, Attention! exhibition invites you to enter the remains of a unique defence system and use a smart tablet (iPad) to explore the history of the Martello Towers of Quebec, their architecture and the living conditions of the military billeted in the towers. A unique, user-friendly, virtual reality and real-time experience in historical animation with the tower as a backdrop.

    From 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Martello 1 Tower. Free admission on July 1.

  • Discover the 10th edition of the Student Masterworks Exhibition featuring over 200 replicas of historical objects from the New France era to the 20th century crafted by students from different grade levels. Items on exhibit include pottery, furniture, wampum, catalogne rugs and more.

    From 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Plains of Abraham Museum. Free at all times.

  • Attend an outdoor show, free of charge, in the enchanting décor of the Edwin-Bélanger Bandstand. The very talented singer-songwriter, Maxime Landry, will offer a moving performance sure to please.

    At 8 p.m. at the Edwin-Bélanger Bandstand. Free.
