Enjoy nature that makes you feel good at the Plains of Abraham

News release

November 27, 2020 – Québec – The National Battlefields Commission

Every winter, the region’s cross-country skiers eagerly await the opening of cross-country ski trails on the Plains of Abraham. At the National Battlefields Commission, we understand their readiness to hit the trails, especially this year, given the limited number of activities available. However, a minimum amount of snow is required to lay out the trails. Rest assured that we will be pleased to announce their opening as soon as a date is determined. Until then, the Park remains open to pedestrians and sports enthusiasts. Come and enjoy nature that makes you feel good!

Quick facts

  • Promenade and trails
Explore history through the commemorative plaques, monuments and interpretation panels installed along the Park’s trails. The Plains of Abraham Trail connecting the Samuel-de-Champlain Promenade and Upper Town is open all winter.

  • Park closed to automobile traffic
The Battlefields Park is closed to automobile traffic in winter. It remains open so pedestrians and sports enthusiasts can enjoy nature in the city.

  • COVID-19 measures
In accordance with government guidelines, the Plains of Abraham Museum is closed at the present time. No gathering of any kind is allowed in the Battlefields Park, which includes the Plains of Abraham and the Des Braves Park.
