National Seniors Council work priorities

The Minister of Seniors and the Minister of Health set the National Seniors Council's work priorities.

In the 2024 federal budget, the government announced the establishment of a Sectoral Table on the Care Economy that will consult and provide recommendations to the government of Canada. It also indicated its intention to launch consultations on the development of a national caregiving strategy.

Accordingly, Ministers directed the National Seniors Council to support these two initiatives as follows:

• prepare a comprehensive presentation on older adults as caregivers and care recipients for the Sectoral Table
• participate in consultations to develop a national caregiving strategy
