Minister Sohi to Participate in the 2018 Canadian Council of Forest Ministers Meeting

HALIFAX — Canada’s Minister of Natural Resources, the Honourable Amarjeet Sohi, will take part in the 33rd annual Canadian Council of Forest Ministers (CCFM) meeting on September 6 and 7. Under the theme of A New Forest Landscape, Canada’s forest ministers will work together to advance priorities and review issues of common interest, including wildland fire, trade, the bioeconomy and species at risk.

The CCFM is a forum of federal, provincial and territorial government representatives who meet to discuss and take action on forest-related issues.

Minister Sohi will make an announcement in support of the forest industry. A media availability will follow.

On September 7, he will also chair a panel discussion of the Federal–Provincial Ministers Softwood Lumber Task Force, where ministers will receive updates on the status of Canada’s softwood lumber industry.
