Fleet and units
The Royal Canadian Navy’s (RCN) fleet is made up of numerous classes of ships, submarines and other support vessels, as well as specialized units that allow Canada to maintain one of the most active blue-water navies in the world.
Surface fleet
The Surface fleet of the RCN provides the Government of Canada a global presence and the versatility to respond to a variety of diplomatic, humanitarian or security situations.
Submarines
Submarines are part of the unseen force of Canada: stealthy, lethal and persistent, making them ideal for surveillance and intelligence gathering, as well as the ability to control or deny access to our territorial waters.
Specialized units
The RCN relies on various specialized units to complement crews and ships with greater protection and capabilities, both in Canada and around the world.
Training and auxiliary
The support team, which provide critical at-sea experience to our sailors and support to day-to-day operations.
