HMCS Fergus (K686)

Commissioned at Collingwood, Ontario, on November 18, 1944, the Flower class corvette HMCS Fergus was the last corvette launched for the Royal Canadian Navy.

She arrived at Halifax, Nova Scotia, in mid-December, and early in January 1945 proceeded to Bermuda for work-ups. Arriving at St. John’s, Newfoundland, on February 2, she joined Escort Group C-9, with which she served on North Atlantic convoy duty until Victory in Europe Day. HMCS Fergus left Greenock, Scotland in early June for Canada, was paid off on July 14, 1945, at Sydney, Nova Scotia, and placed in reserve at Sorel, Quebec.

Sold for mercantile use in November, she was renamed Camco II and in 1948, Harcourt Kent. She was wrecked on Cape Pine, Newfoundland, November 22, 1949.
