Whether we live in the global south or the global north, all of us at CSW are impatient to achieve gender equality, we all experience pushback and none of us can do this work alone.
It is an honour to join you today for this important announcement that will make a real difference in the lives of women in this community and their families.
Let me start by saying how much I like the title of this conference: because indeed in my past work, it has often felt like advocacy was an unspeakable word. In fact, I fought for the basic rights of shelter and food for those among us who are most unseen; the folks who live at the margins and are frequently excluded from even the most essential of human needs.
I am thrilled to be here for this workshop to discuss some of the issues women face when they consider entering public life as a career option. I'd like to begin by recognizing that we are gathering on Treaty One territory.
