The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) advises that 15 inmates at Edmonton Institution for Women, in Alberta, have tested positive for COVID-19. The health and safety of our employees, inmates, and the public continue to be our top priority. On October 12, 2022, as a result of the vigilance of staff members, a package containing unauthorized items was seized in the medium security unit at Dorchester Penitentiary.
On October 18, 2022, as a result of the vigilance of staff members, contraband and unauthorized items were seized at Archambault Institution, a federal multi-level security institution.
At approximately 2:00 p.m. on October 17, 2022, inmate Johnathan Jeffery Kessel was apprehended by the Saskatoon Detachment of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
