The Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Honourable Mary Ng, Minister of Export Promotion, International Trade and Economic Development, and the Honourable Ahmed Hussen, Minister of International Development, will meet African Union Commission (AUC) leadership for the second annual Canada-AUC High-Level Dialogue on November 7, 2024. On November 6, Minister Ng will attend a high-level event at the Canada-AUC Trade Policy Dialogue. The events will take place in Toronto, Ontario.
Forced displacement of individuals has reached record levels worldwide this year, as millions are driven from their homes by escalating conflicts, emerging crises, persecution and the effects of climate change. This has resulted in unprecedented humanitarian needs, requiring global cooperation to help the world’s most vulnerable.
The Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Foreign Affairs, yesterday concluded the Ministerial Conference on the Human Dimension of Ukraine’s 10-Point Peace Formula, which she co-hosted in Montréal with Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrii Sybiha and Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs Espen Barth Eide.
The Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and the Honourable Bill Blair, Minister of National Defence, met today in Ottawa with their Republic of Korea counterparts, Minister of Foreign Affairs Cho Tae-yul and Minister of National Defence Kim Yong-hyun for the inaugural Canada-ROK Foreign and Defence Ministerial Meeting.
The Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Foreign Affairs, today announced sanctions under the Special Economic Measures (Burma) Regulations against 3 individuals and 4 entities for supplying weapons and military equipment to the Myanmar military.
