Today, the Minister of Environment and Climate Change, the Honourable Steven Guilbeault, hosted a roundtable alongside Canada’s Prime Minister, the Right Honourable Justin Trudeau, and His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales to harness the power of sustainable finance in fighting climate change and building strong economies. The roundtable brought together leaders from Canada’s financial and banking sector, Government of Canada institutions, and civil society, as well as other sustainable finance representatives. The event was moderated by Mark Carney, United Nations Special Envoy for Climate Action and Finance and the former Governor of the Bank of England and the Bank of Canada. Today, the Honourable Steven Guilbeault, Minister of Environment and Climate Change, announced a $2.8-million investment for SaskPower from the Low Carbon Economy Fund to support its Northern First Nations Home Retrofit Program, which this week is launching its application window for the year. SaskPower is also contributing over $1.0 million to support this project, which will provide energy efficiency home retrofits in participating First Nations communities.
