Today, the Honourable Marc Miller, Minister of Indigenous Services, Chief Randy Fobister and elected council of Asubpeeschoseewagong Netum Anishinabek (ANA) met in community to sign an amendment to the Mercury Care Home Framework Agreement, which builds on the Government of Canada’s commitment to ensuring that ANA residents who are living with methylmercury poisoning receive the care they need while staying closer to home, community and family.
Today, the Honourable Marc Miller, Minister of Indigenous Services, and Chief Waylon Scott, Wabaseemoong Independent Nations (Wabaseemoong), met in community to celebrate the signing of the Relationship Agreement: Comprehensive Response to Mercury and Human Health in Wabaseemoong Independent Nations. While a signing ceremony took place in September 2020 virtually because of pandemic restrictions, Minister Miller welcomed Chief Scott’s invitation to visit the community.

Natoaganeg (Eel Ground) First Nation will be the site of a new shelter for Indigenous women, children and 2SLGBTQQIA+ people in times of great need and crisis. This new shelter will be the first of its kind located in rural New Brunswick and will serve 15 Mi'kmaw and Maliseet communities, as well as extending shelter services to other First Nations communities in the Atlantic region.
