Please be advised that the Honourable Marc Miller, Minister of Indigenous Services, Valerie Gideon, Associate Deputy Minister of Indigenous Services Canada, and Dr. Tom Wong, Chief Medical Officer of Public Health, will hold a news conference to provide an update on coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
The Honourable Marc Miller, Minister of Indigenous Services Canada highlighted $760.8 million in funding proposed in Budget 2021, a portion of which will be allocated through the needs-based funding request process that just reopened.
The Government of Canada provided an update on COVID-19 and Indigenous communities. 687 First Nations, Inuit and territorial communities are rolling out vaccines, and more than 508,800 doses have been administered.
Today, the Honourable Marc Miller, Minister of Indigenous Services, announced $291,173 to support the Prince George Nechako Aboriginal Employment and Training Association (PGNAETA) through the Indigenous Community Support Fund (ICSF).
The COVID-19 pandemic has heightened food security concerns for Indigenous Peoples and communities. Indigenous Services Canada has been working with Indigenous partners and will continue to provide support and services to address the socioeconomic inequalities exacerbated by the pandemic.
Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) is committed to supporting Indigenous communities in their response to COVID-19 and is working closely with Indigenous organizations and provincial and territorial governments.
