The Government of Canada is making major investments in housing in Indigenous communities to reduce overcrowding, improve building quality, and address housing shortages. At the same time, it is looking for ways to accelerate change by providing opportunities to test new ideas, build partnerships, expand financing options, and invest in the well-being of Indigenous peoples.
Today Don Rusnak, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Indigenous Services on behalf of Minister Jane Philpott, the Province of British Columbia and the First Nations Health Council were pleased to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on improving mental health and wellness in BC First Nations.
Please be advised that Don Rusnak, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Indigenous Services on behalf of the Honourable Jane Philpott, alongside the Honourable Judy Darcy, Minister of Mental Health and Addictions of British Columbia and the First Nations Health Council, will sign a Tripartite Memorandum of Understanding agreement to support Mental Health and Wellness for First Nations in British Columbia.
The federal government is committed to working in partnership with First Nations and all levels of government to support the health and well-being of First Nation children and families.
