New EV Chargers Coming to British Columbia

Reducing pollution from the transportation sector is critical to Canada achieving its climate targets. That’s why the Government of Canada is making it easier for Canadians to purchase, charge and drive electric vehicles (EVs) in British Columbia and across the country. The Honourable Jonathan Wilkinson, Minister of Natural Resources, announced a $3.54-million investment to the Government of British Columbia’s Ministry of Energy, Mines and Low Carbon Innovation to help support the installation of up to 810 EV chargers across the province.

Wayne Long, Member of Parliament for Saint John–Rothesay, on behalf of the Honourable Jonathan Wilkinson, Minister of Natural Resources, announced nearly $50 million for the Burchill Wind Limited partnership between Wolumseket, owned by Neqotkuk (also known as Tobique First Nation), and Natural Forces Development to deploy renewable energy and grid modernization technologies to support clean energy to Saint John. Burchill Wind Limited also contributed to the project, bringing the total investments to nearly $95 million.

Government of Canada Launches Call for Proposals for Critical Mineral Development

Today during National Mining Week, the Honourable Jonathan Wilkinson, Canada’s Minister of Natural Resources, announced a call for proposals for the Critical Minerals Research, Development and Demonstration Program (CMRDD). This component of the program will provide $10.95 million in funding for pilot plants and projects to support the development of critical mineral value chains. This funding is part of the $47.7M initiative announced in Budget 2021 for federal research and development to advance critical battery mineral processing and refining expertise.
