Lillian Bilsky Freiman was a Jewish Canadian organizer, activist, and benefactor who dedicated her life to community service. She worked tirelessly to improve the health and welfare of Canadians through her charitable efforts. As president of Hadassah-WIZO (Women’s International Zionist Organization) from 1919 to 1940, Freiman turned this group into a truly national organization.

Today Stéphane Lauzon, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Veterans Affairs and Associate Minister of National Defence, commemorated the national historic significance of Lillian Bilsky Freiman with a special ceremony to unveil a plaque at the Army Officer’s Mess, her former home. The announcement was made on behalf of the Minister of Environment and Climate Change and Minister responsible for Parks Canada, Catherine McKenna.

Fundy National Park Wolfe Lake Visitor Reception Centre Project Completion

The original Wolfe Lake Visitor Centre was demolished in 2012 as the wood framed building structure was deteriorating and became unsafe. Announced in 2015, the construction to build the new Visitor Reception Centre began in August 2017 with much of the work being completed in time for visitors to enjoy its many benefits for the 2018 operational season.
