The 34th Annual Meeting of Federal-Provincial-Territorial (FPT) Ministers responsible for the Status of Women took place this week in Edmonton, Alberta. The Ministers addressed priority issues for women and girls at the meeting including ending violence against women and girls, reducing the gender wage gap, and enhancing the use of Gender-based Analysis (GBA) in decision-making as a critical tool for advancing gender equality.

As co-chairs, the Honourable Patty Hajdu, Minister of Status of Women, and the Honourable Stephanie McLean, Minister of Service Alberta and Status of Women, will deliver remarks as part of the 34th Annual Meeting of Federal-Provincial-Territorial (FPT) Ministers responsible for the Status of Women.
Let me start by saying how much I like the title of this conference: because indeed in my past work, it has often felt like advocacy was an unspeakable word. In fact, I fought for the basic rights of shelter and food for those among us who are most unseen; the folks who live at the margins and are frequently excluded from even the most essential of human needs.
