This new feminist policy deliberately focuses on empowering women and girls and on gender equality in order to attain the ambitious global objective of ending poverty by 2030.

Thank you very much for that kind introduction. Good afternoon, and thank you all for being here. I'd like to first recognize that we are on the traditional territory of the Mississaugas of New Credit. And I'd like to thank Tulip Retail for hosting us today.
I am pleased to be here with my colleague Dominic LeBlanc, Minister of Fisheries and Oceans and the Coast Guard and our colleague from South Shore – St. Margarets, Bernadette Jordan who played a key leadership role from the very beginning in the legislation our government is introducing today.
The first thing I would like to do is reinforce this important message: “do not be a passenger”. Take charge of this experience, and “lean into it”, as the Prime Minister often says. Take charge of your own learning and development, and use this forum for networking. I know that the people that have gone through Executive Leadership Programs in the past have formed strong professional and personal bonds, and it is an opportunity to get to know some remarkable public servants and Canadians. Take full advantage of this opportunity.
