Hello, it’s wonderful to be here tonight.
I hope everyone had a very productive day today. You had a very impressive lineup of speakers!
I want to begin by acknowledging that the land on which we gather this evening is the traditional territory of the Haudenosaunee and, most recently, the territory of the Mississaugas of the New Credit First Nation.
Hello. Thank you all for that very warm welcome. If I remember correctly, the last time we all met was on June 9, at the launch of the new Feminist International Assistance Policy.
On September 28, 2017, the Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Canadian Heritage, outlined the Government of Canada’s vision for Canada’s creative industries in Ottawa, the result of an unprecedented, pan-Canadian conversation about the future of our cultural and creative industries. Our diverse and vibrant creative sector is a source of pride for all Canadians. It is a powerful force for economic growth and development, while sharing our stories at home and abroad. With digital technologies rapidly transforming Canada’s cultural landscape, we face this challenge with a renewed policy approach and a bold vision for Canada’s creative sector in the global landscape.
