This week is National Organ and Tissue Donation Awareness Week—a week to raise awareness about the critical need for more donors across the country. Every year, thousands of Canadians receive life-saving organ transplants, while thousands still wait, and hundreds die because not enough organs are available.
After consulting with Canada’s Ambassador to Sudan, the decision has been made to temporarily suspend our operations in Sudan. Canadian diplomats will temporarily work from a safe location outside of the country. They will continue working with the Government of Sudan, neighbouring countries, as well as with like-minded governments and the international community to coordinate the response to this crisis, and to support Canadians still in country.
The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) respects the collective bargaining process and remains committed to continuing to bargain in good faith with the Public Service Alliance of Canada – Union of Taxation Employees (PSAC-UTE) with a view to conclude a new collective agreement that is both fair to employees and reasonable for Canadian taxpayers as soon as possible.
We are actively monitoring the situation in Sudan and working with neighbouring countries, as well as with like-minded governments and the international community to coordinate the response to this crisis.
