“Seventy-seven years ago, Crimean Tatars were forcibly deported by Soviet authorities from the Crimean Peninsula. The suffering of the Tatars, including hundreds of thousands of men, women and children who were displaced from their ancestral homeland, serves as a sombre, yet powerful, reminder of the injustice that continues to this day.
Today marks the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia, a day created to reflect on the violence and discrimination experienced by LGBTQ2 communities, and a reminder to be deliberate in our actions to end this form of discrimination.

We are disappointed with the decision taken at the extraordinary session of the Parliament of the Kyrgyz Republic on May 17 to move forward with the imposition of external management on the Kumtor Gold Company, and statements made during the parliamentary session that Kyrgyz control will be sought over a publically traded Canadian-based company with multiple international assets. This will potentially have far-reaching consequences on foreign direct investment in the Kyrgyz Republic.
