The fish and seafood sectors are among the largest food sectors exported by Canada. In 2014, Canada exported $4.9 billion of fish and seafood products, an increase of $517 million from 2013. Approximately 85 percent of all fish landed by Canadian harvesters are exported to foreign markets.

Joined by several Canadian companies at the Seafood Expo North America in Boston, the Honourable Gail Shea, Minister of Fisheries and Oceans, today highlighted the 2014 trade figures for Canada's exports of fish and seafood products. Canadian exports continued to grow once again, with total sales of $4.9 billion in 2014. This represents an overall increase of $517 million or 11.9% from the previous year.
