The Canadian Coast Guard in partnership with the United States Coast Guard and the Ontario Provincial Police, is advising residents and visitors that annual spring icebreaking operations will start on/or around March 27, 2014 in Thunder Bay on Lake Superior.

Mr. James Lunney, Member of Parliament for Nanaimo-Alberni, on behalf of the Honourable Gail Shea, Minister of Fisheries and Oceans, today announced that a $232,000 in repairs at the Ucluelet (Otter Street) small craft harbour has been completed. The project involved reconstruction of the Ucluelet wharf and associated repairs.
The Canadian Coast Guard (CCG) is working closely with the United States Coast Guard (USCG) and the St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation in planning the Spring 2014 icebreaking operations in both the Seaway and on the Great Lakes.
