Thanks to federal investments, families and residents in Annapolis County have access to a new connector trail providing shortcuts and easier access between the Lorcon and Orchard Drive subdivisions in Nictaux. The new Scotney Pathway greatly increases pedestrian and cyclist safety by helping to keep pedestrians and cyclists off the roads and highways. It also provides a better route for walking and biking to the Town of Middleton.

On May 19, 1845, the Royal Navy ships Her Majesty's Ship (HMS) Erebus and HMS Terror departed Greenhithe, England, on a much-heralded Arctic expedition in search of a Northwest Passage. Under the command of Sir John Franklin, with Captain Francis Rawdon Crozier second in command, the expedition's two ships set out with a total complement of 134 officers and men.
