The Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, the Honourable Denis Lebel, and Lucie Charlebois, Minister for Rehabilitation, Youth Protection and Public Health and Member of the National Assembly for Soulanges, on behalf of Quebec's Minister of Municipal Affairs and Land Occupancy, Pierre Moreau, are pleased to announce that 15 municipalities southwest of Montréal will receive $21,972,072 over the next five years under the new federal-provincial Gas Tax Fund agreement and from the Government of Quebec's contribution for priority infrastructure projects.

A healthy forest industry and sustainable energy practices are essential to the economic vitality of our region. We are all deeply invested in the growth and prosperity of our community. The Pembroke MDF plant has played an important role in our community over the years in terms of producing quality materials and employment. When the plant closed back in November 2008, the impact was felt deeply by our community. But today, we are standing here in a much happier place. I am certain that I am not alone in being excited to see the lights turned back on and the doors to this facility reopened.
