Canadian families and communities will benefit from improved recreational infrastructure under a new program being launched today across the country. Canada's Economic Action Plan created the Recreational Infrastructure Canada (RInC) program to upgrade or rehabilitate existing recreational facilities, in cooperation with provinces and territories.

Local hockey rinks, swimming pools, and other community sites throughout the West will be eligible to receive funding for upgrades, renovations, and fix-ups thanks to the new Recreational Infrastructure Canada Program (RInC) in Canada's Economic Action Plan. Funding for the RInC program is now available through Western Economic Diversification Canada.
The CFIA and Health Canada (HC) have received a submission from BASF Canada seeking an approval for environmental release, livestock feed, and food use for Glycine max, which has been developed for herbicide tolerance using modern biotechnology methods. Data has been submitted in accordance with CFIA guidelines for assessment of plants with novel traits (PNTs) for unconfined release, CFIA guidelines for assessment of novel feeds and HC guidelines for assessment of novel foods. These foods contain peanut products (butter/paste, as well as whole, crushed, powdered, etc.) that have been recalled in the U.S. and Canada by Peanut Corporation of America (PCA) due to Salmonella contamination.
