The Canadian Coast Guard (CCG) wishes to remind the public of the dangers associated with its icebreaking operations and the need to exercise caution when icebreakers are operating nearby.
The Honourable Jim Flaherty, Minister of Finance, today welcomed an International Monetary Fund (IMF) statement of support for the fiscal stimulus in Canada's Economic Action Plan, which it called "large, timely and well-targeted." Noting the stimulus package is well above the Fund's benchmark of 2 per cent of gross domestic product (GDP), the IMF statement said the immediate focus should be to implement the budget to mobilize spending.

They are the Karkwa group (Quebec) in song, Arleen Thibault (Quebec) in storytelling, Virginie Brunelle (Quebec) in original dance, Stéphanie Filion (Quebec) in literature, Benjamin Rodger (Ontario) in painting, Geneviève Thauvette (Ontario) in photography, and Sarah Beck (Saskatchewan) in sculpture.

March 11, 2009 ¿ Nine outstanding Canadian researchers have been awarded a total of $1.26 million in the 42nd annual competition for Killam Research Fellowships, administered by the Canada Council for the Arts.
