Today, Whole Foods Market announced a voluntary multi state recall of the fresh ground beef it has sold between June 2 and August 6, 2008 because of a concern that it may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7 bacteria. Whole Foods Market is informed that the beef in question apparently came from Coleman Natural Beef whose Nebraska Beef processing plant was previously subject to a nationwide recall for E. coli O157:H7 contamination.

Canada's Environment Minister, John Baird, today announced that after extensive review, the proposed Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Transshipment and Storage Terminal project in Grassy Point, at the head of Placentia Bay in Newfoundland and Labrador, is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects taking into account all appropriate mitigation measures. The Minister has referred the project back to the responsible authorities, Transport Canada (TC) and Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO), for appropriate action.

The new project, delivered by the Partners in Process Equine Learning Centre, will provide a unique drug treatment program to youth who have come into conflict with the law.

The roundtable is part of the Minister's cross-country tour to meet key youth justice stakeholders and partners in all regions of Canada to seek their input on improvements to the YCJA.
