To discuss the importance of supporting the manufacturing sector to drive Canada`s economy forward, FedDev Ontario Minister of State Gary Goodyear and Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters (CME) Vice President of National Policy Mathew Wilson today hosted a manufacturing roundtable in Newmarket.
Today, James Bezan, Member of Parliament for Selkirk¿Interlake, on behalf of Justice Minister Peter MacKay, announced $60,000 in funding to the Lord Selkirk School Division to support youth with cognitive impairments or mental health issues who are also involved in the justice system. The new funding to the Selkirk Team for At-Risk Teens (START) program will use an existing local model to develop a network of support for youth and their families with the goal of preventing further involvement with the justice system.

Today, Ryan Leef, Member of Parliament for Yukon, on behalf of Justice Minister Peter MacKay, announced $460,000 in funding to the Deh Gàh Elementary and Secondary School in Fort Providence, to support a reintegration and rehabilitative program for youth involved in the youth justice system. Programming will include in-class assistance, tutoring and mentoring, physical activities, employable skills training, career planning, and various counselling sessions and activities to help address the use of, and addiction to, illicit drugs.
