The Honourable Gail Shea, Minister of Fisheries and Oceans, today issued the following statement today in response to the release of the Transportation Safety Board's final report following its investigation into the May 18, 2013, sinking of the fishing vessel Marie J, near McEachern's Point, New Brunswick:
I am writing to respond to the story entitled "Ottawa to cut powers of the nation's top doctor," as it lacked important context and information about my role as Chief Public Health Officer of Canada.
During National Radon Action Month, the Government of Canada is working to raise awareness and inform Canadians about the simple actions they can take to reduce their risk from radon exposure.
"On November 11th Canadians across the nation will mark with solemn remembrance the sacrifice of Canadian Armed Forces members who have served Canada with honour and distinction.
