The governments of Canada and Quebec today applaud the opening of an organic waste reclamation centre in the municipality of Saint-Hyacinthe. The centre will process the contents of brown bags collected by residents of Acton and Maskoutains MRCs as well as organic residue from local agri-food businesses.
The sixty-seven municipalities of the Outaouais region will receive $131,966,000 over the next five years under the new federal-provincial Gas Tax Fund agreement and from the Government of Quebec's contribution for priority infrastructure projects.
