OTTAWA, October 27, 2003 -- The Honourable Herb Dhaliwal, Minister of Natural Resources Canada, accompanied the Right Honourable Jean Chrétien, Prime Minister of Canada, on an official visit to India from October 24 to 25, 2003.While in India, Prime Minister Chrétien and Minister Dhaliwal met with a number of government officials, including Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. On October 25, Prime Minister Chrétien and Minister Dhaliwal were in Amritsar to visit the Golden Temple. This was followed by an official unveiling of a plaque by Prime Minister Chrétien at the new Canadian Consulate General in Chandigarh, Punjab. Minister Dhaliwal also met with Captain Amarinder Singh, Chief Minister of Punjab, in Chandigarh.After the trip, Minister Dhaliwal will host a conference call to talk about the visit.
